Ramadan Kareem!

 The Manitoba Islamic Association is pleased to announce that the honorable month of Ramadan is here. 

The decision was made in consultation with Imam Hosni Azzabi that the first day of Ramadan 1431 Hijri will begin on Wednesday August 11, 2010.

Here’s what you need to know:

Fasting
The first day of fasting will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010.   

Use the Ramadan Calendar to determine start (Fajr) and stop (Maghrib) times.  It can be downloaded from here:  https://miaonline.org/files/ramadan/Ramadan_2010.pdf

IMPORTANT NOTE regarding the fasting Schedule:
Imam Hosni has revised the schedule and changes were made on Fajr and Imsak times. Please download a new copy from this link

Iftar
Daily Iftar will be provided at both Masjid’s. 
If you’d like to prepare a meal, please book your iftar on the calendar located at the Masjid you wish to serve.  Some bookings are still available. 
Iftar providers are responsible for clean-up before they leave.
Everyone should try to keep the Masjid clean. 

Taraweeah Prayer
Taraweeah Prayer will be held in several locations including both MIA Masjids.

Winnipeg Grand Masjid (2445 Waverely)

  • 8 Rakaa led by Imam Hosni Azzabi. 
  • Taraweeah will be starting on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 11:00 pm. 
  • Baby sitting will be provided on weekends. 
  • Children are welcome in the masjid. Babysitting is available for children too young to pray. The safety and behaviour of children not checked into babysitting is the sole responsibility of their parents or guardians.

Hazelwood Masjid  (247 Hazelwood)

  • 20 Rakaa led by guest Qari Furqan Gaya and Muhammad Abdul-Aziz Waheed. 
  • Taraweeah will be starting on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 11:00 pm. 
  • No babysitting will be provided.

Winnipeg Central Mosque – 715 Ellice
Pakistani Association Centre – 348 Ross
University of Manitoba – Muslim prayer room at University Centre
