Do you want to help MIA?

The Manitoba Islamic Association Executive Council is establishing a number of ad-hoc committees to support the operation of the association and to improve services to the community.

This is your chance to help make things better and make a difference in your mosques. You can join any number of these committees by contacting the committee liaison.

Office Administration: manages the MIA office, including filing documents, phone messages, facility bookings, IT, donation boxes, etc… Contact Aziz Sibaii if interested.

Membership: provides membership forms, processes them, maintains a membership database, and promotes membership in the association to the community. Contact Aziz Sibaii if interested.

Property Management: responsible for maintenance and repair, grounds keeping, cleaning, facilities use policies, in both the Waverly and Hazelwood mosques. Contact Salman Qureshi if interested.

Event Organization: responsible for the organization of Eid prayers, large Jumu’a prayers (good Friday) and other events. Contact Janna Mustapha.

Community Programs: responsible for organizing community programs, such as speakers, social events, town hall meetings, sports, etc… Contact Idris Elbakri.

Fundraising: responsible for soliciting donations and sponsorships for the operations of the MIA. Organizes fundraising dinners and sales and pursues government grants. Contact Ahmed Duranni.

Green Space: responsible for landscaping, temporary use of the land, community gardens. Contact Ahmed Duranni.

Finance Committee: responsible for general accounting, internal audits, budget, and financial reporting. Contact Afzal Shahin. 

Takaful Committee: responsible for collection and distribution of charity and for conducting charity drives and promotion. Contact Saeed Dar.
