In preparation for Ramadan, the MIA EC is organizing a series of educational lectures and workshops. Sheikh Hamid Slimi (click to view his wiki page), a leading scholar of Islam in Canada and Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams has been invited to come to Winnipeg to conduct these workshops. His tentative program will be as follows:

  • Friday, July 06: Community lecture night at the Waverley mosque
  • Saturday, July 07: A comprehensive Ramadan workshop (everything you want to know: fiqh rules, spiritual aspects, preparing for Ramadan, maximizing the benefits of Ramadan, Q & A etc).

More details will follow.

Ramadan Preparation:

The month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr are approaching us fast. Planning and preparations for Ramadan are in high gears. The MIA EC is committed to making this Ramadan highly rewarding in all aspects: spiritually, educationally and socially.
We are soliciting suggestions from our community members on how to make this Ramadan and Eid more effective and efficient.
We are also seeking volunteers to help with organizing and facilitating the Ramadan and Eid events. As well, if you are fully or mostly Hafiz with good recitation, please let us know. Please contact Br. Osaed Khan at osaed.khan@miaonline.org.

Mosque Maintenance:

The interior painting of the Hazelwood mosque is almost complete. Soon work will begin in the Waverley Grand Mosque gym/community centre to patch and strengthen the walls, as well, painting of the sister’s section will resume. We thank all of the volunteers for their help and we apologize to the congregants for any inconvenience they might face during this time.
