Arabic Teacher Role

Start Date: July 2024

  • Part Time: 7 hours/week (5 hours in class + 2 hours outside of class for lesson planning)
  • Work hours: Saturday & Sunday morning 10:30 am – 1:00 pm
  • Duration: 11-week term (2 terms per year, Summer and Winter)
  • Pay Rate: $20/hour
  • Location: Winnipeg Central Mosque, 715 Ellice Ave

Position Summary

The Manitoba Islamic Association is looking for a motivated Arabic teacher to help facilitate the Quranic Arabic curriculum that will be used in the classroom. The ideal candidate is someone who has studied Arabic and has a passion to teach people the language of the Quran. We will provide training in Quranic Arabic teaching via getquranic.com so that you feel comfortable taking on this role in our team.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the curriculum provided and be able to effectively deliver it in a classroom setting
  • Teach and review curriculum class materials with students by discussing lessons, going over practices, and assignments
  • Prepare lesson plans
  • Assess students’ progress throughout their Arabic learning journey and identify areas of adjustment in learning, providing feedback and supplemental learning material from the curriculum if necessary
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and their families based on their performance
  • Simple set up of audio/visual equipment
  • Classroom set up (tables and chairs)
  • Refreshment set up
  • Classroom clean up
  • Opening and closing facility

Required Qualifications

  • Education / Work Experience
    • 1-2 years of experience in a teaching environment

Required Skills

  • 2+ years of Arabic education
  • Great communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and be trained
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Comfortable with digital training platforms
  • Efficient with time management and deadline adherence
  • Ability to work with various levels of students
  • Extremely organized and punctual
  • Displays high level of professionalism

Required Equipment

  • Laptop

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to speak Fusha Arabic
  • Certification in Teaching
  • Degree in Islamic Studies or Arabic
  • Experience with Quranic Arabic
