Caretaker at Pioneer

Job Title: Cleaner/Caretaker
Location: 247 Hazelwood Avenue
Terms: Part Time – Evenings and Weekends
Requirements: Available for Evening and Weekend shifts

About us: The Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) traces its roots to the late fifties and early sixties of the 20th century, when Muslim immigrants to Manitoba came together to worship, learn, and socialize. MIA was officially incorporated in 1969 and has grown from its humble beginnings to being the oldest and largest membership-based Islamic organization in Manitoba.

Daily Responsibilities

Complete all custodial/janitorial tasks to a high quality (ex. Cleaning washrooms, kitchens, replenishing supplies, vacuuming, wiping etc.)
Requires little direction/supervision,
Recognizes what needs to be accomplished and takes the initiative to complete the task at hand
Snow shoveling in the winter and sand entrances.
Watch for improper parking and take necessary action.
Report breakdowns, accidents, damage, or vandalism to MIA Facilities Manager.
Ordering cleaning supplies.
Ensure the premises are esthetically well kept and well organized.
Managing access control on a rotating schedule using the systems in place.
On call duties for emergencies and special events.
Other related duties as assigned.
Groundskeeping maintenance (grass cutting, empty trash, trim weeds etc.)

Must be fluent in English.
High attention to detail/ability to multi-task
Excellent interpersonal skills
Provide high quality customer service to all guests
Team player but efficient in solo work
Passionate, driven to deliver the best in all tasks
Eager to learn

Preferred Qualifications

Groundskeeping experience
Custodial experience
